Role Description This full-time remote Certified Medical Coder role is responsible for accurately validating diagnosis and procedure codes on medical records in accordance with current coding guidelines and provider/payer requirements. The individual in this role reviews clinical documentation, provider and payor denial/appeal letters, identifies appropriate codes, and ensures that records meet regulatory, compliance, and reimbursement standards. They must have strong written and verbal communication skills. 

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated inpatient coding experience (3 years minimum) with strong proficiency in assigning accurate codes to diverse clinical services.
  • Formal training in Health Information Management  with relevant inpatient coding certification (e.g., RHIT, CCS, CIC or similar). 
  • Solid knowledge of medical terminology and clinical concepts used in documentation and coding.
  • Expertise in medical coding standards, guidelines, and payer-specific requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and commitment to data accuracy and compliance.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage time effectively, and meet productivity and quality benchmarks.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records, coding software, and standard office applications.
